I’m thinking that maye the Braves with the much improved rotation. Who do you believe is the dark horse? Giants? Marlins? Someone else?
Even though I don’t think they’ll win their division, I’d say that the Reds are a strong contender for the wild card. First of all, getting rid of the Kid and Mr Strikeout (Dunn) has done wonders for the clubhouse. The young end of their starting rotation will have the extra experience needed to compete, while Harang should have a slight bounce back from last year. The bullpen has beefed up a bit, and their young sluggers have shown serious promise.
That being said, the Cubs should win the division running away, but expect to see them compete with the NL east runner-up, due to nothing more than an easier schedule.

Should teams in a nil-nil draw in group play still get the single point? I say no. Comments?
Not-scoring doesn’t win championships and I think that when one team plays simply to avoid being scored upon and succeeds, both should forfeit the point.
That’s an interesting perspective, but I think a little unfair.
It doesn’t take into account the skills of a really good defence, whose team-mates may be outplayed in their attack, but can they still rally well enough to keep the opposition out and stop them scoring.
Football is not just about scoring goals, it’s also about defending your own goal when it is under threat.
Someone else also made a good point – a draw is still a draw, so even if the score was 25-25 because both teams were on fire in their attack but hopeless in their defence, the outcome would still be the same.
No, this way is the fairest system and the best. It puts greater effort into winning (3 points as against just 1 for a draw), but doesn’t discourage a strong defensive effort from the team that has the lead.
This in turn pushes the team that is behind to try harder as well, because they can at least get a point if they can manage to get a goal back and level the scores.
I confess my bias as I played a lot of time as a defender both in goals and in the backfield.
